· Have you ever listened to marketing of preworkout powders that are advertised for improving performance for a better workout? Have you ever questioned if your morning coffee first thing in the morning was a good source of energy, for your early workout? Do you love a mid-day pick me up? If you have, keep reading. While coffee is a habit for over 64% of Americans there is a new drink on the market that might just be good enough to replace your daily brew. Matcha is the new craze. Matcha is the perfect new source of energy for you.
· What is it:Matcha is known for its rich color and being rich in health benefits. Matcha can be consumed on its own mixed with water to make a tea, or milk for a latte and also can be mixed into other foods and drinks for quick easy energy.
· Why are people using it: Tiffany Llamas, a nutrition student who understands the human body likes matcha because of its rich color and health it offers. “I love the color of matcha and I also love the possible health benefits coming from matcha such as possible benefits in green teas.” While Tiffany likes matcha tea because of its rich health benefits, Nutrition student Lauren Paciulla likes matcha tea because of its energy. “I like matcha mainly for its flavor, but also for the energy boost it gives me. “. Tarney Haussler who runs track for a sports team, enjoys matcha tea over coffee for pre workout due to its calming slow energy it gives compared to the jitters given from coffee. “I would choose tea over coffee if I was stressed and wanted something to soothe my workouts.”
· How to have it: One new way to have matcha is mixing it with protein for an energy boosting workout drink. Some people do not like to work out on a full stomach from eating breakfast first thing in the morning, and some people do not like the jittery energy that comes with most preworkout drinks. Matcha tea is the perfect way to have slow releasing energy that gets you through your workout and energy that lasts all day. Lauren has matcha as a preworkout, “it gives me longer energy without the crash and jitters that usually come when I drink coffee.” Some people don’t know that matcha gives a type of energy that last longer than coffee while still giving you energy that is less jittery then coffee.
· Other pros to drinking matcha: Some science shows that drinking matcha helps to increase fat burning, causing more fat to be burned during your workout, also matcha is a perfect mid-day pick me up, and can also be a calming drink to help you enjoy your daily break time. Some people drink matcha many times a week. Tiffany drinks matcha on a routine basis, “I drink matcha 1-2 times a week.” So are you ready to start moving with matcha?
